The 2012 edition of the CAF-Elhuyar Awards is already underway, and this year will have a new category designed to promote SCIENCE INITIATIVES IN SOCIETY

Through this category, which is in the form of a grant, the CAF-Elhuyar awards are seeking to support projects that promote interaction between science/technology and society.These projects may be of a scientific, artistic or sociological nature and their aim has to be to develop the relationship between science and society.

The Elhuyar Foundation organises the CAF-Elhuyar Awards, with the sponsorship of the company CAF and the economic collaboration of the Department of Culture of the Government of the Basque Autonomous Community (region).

These awards were set up by Elhuyar and the company CAF in 1994 to promote the popularising of science subjects in Basque and, basically the work of new writers.

The CAF-Elhuyar awards seek to encourage, reward and recognise not only the work to popularise and spread science and technology in society, but also the work of scientific journalism in the Basque language.

• Original popularisation articles::
  • General popularisation articles 2.000 €
  • Popularisation articles based on the author’s PhD thesis 2.000 €
• Scientific journalism works 2.000 €
• Science initiatives in society 5.000 €
