Lexicon and terminology extraction

Bilingual/multilingual lexicons are indispensable in the sphere of language technology applications: machine translation, terminology databases and glossaries of translation memory systems, multilingual information search systems, feeding Basque WordNet and similar multilingual knowledge bases, general and technical lexicography, etc.

There are two main reasons for semi-automatically building lexicons from bilingual/multilingual texts:

Building lexicons is a very expensive job and the extraction process can be automated by means of language technologies
The texts contain linguistic data and large text masses are needed to build significant lexicons; language technologies are indispensable for helping to process such large texts
