Building corpora is a long and complex task, nowadays unthinkable to perform without automatic tools. So, the objective of Corpus Tools is to help build and manage corpora. With this in mind, Elhuyar Fundazioa has developed the tool Corpusgile.

On the other hand, the Internet has opened new opportunities to corpus building and corpus linguistics. The advantages are clear: a continually growing huge repository of texts, already digitalised, at anyone's hand... There are two points of view regarding the Internet and corpora. The first one is to query the Internet "live" as if it were a corpus (web as corpus). The tool CorpEus developed by Elhuyar is of this first kind. The second is to use the Internet as a source of texts to build a corpus (web for corpus). The tool Co3 we are developing now is of this second kind.

It is also important to have automatic tools to query and extract information from corpora. In Elhuyar we have developed tools for automatic lexical and terminological extraction.
